My apologies for the delay in a new posting! The school musical production requires many hours outside of the classroom. Now that the props have been sorted, counted, and stored, we are back to business as usual.
6th Grade/1st period: Following the completion of an outstanding Purim Spiel Puppet show, the students completed entries for a variety of contests, all of which are related to Tikkun Olam. Mrs. Raphael has recorded the Purim Shpiel, which I will be trying to upload so you may view it here. As the students complete their contest entries, they will be learning about the ancient art of weaving.
7th Grade/3rd period: Kudos to our students for a hilarious script and much adored puppets for Purim. The Purim Shpiel was the hit of the day. The accolades that the students received were well-deserved!
In true Judaic fashion, we taste the bitter with the sweet as the students work on entries for the Georgia Commission on the Holocaust art contest. The contest coincides with the Shoah unit in their Judaics class.
8th Grade/5th period: The students completed contest entries, then a project based on the work of Georgia O'Keeffe. Enlarging floral images using oil pastels, the students practiced their proportion skills as well as blending, layering and mixing color. Next, they have free choice to complete an entry for the annual student exhibition.
Digital Studio: Third quarter was spent refining skills learned earlier in the year after the iMovies were finished. Combining photography, Illustrator and Photoshop, students have made several fun projects. After planning, desiging and executing a real photo shoot, students will be learning 3-D graphic software.
