WEEK OF 9/14 - 9/18

1st per/Yearbook: Continue integrating the theme (adding text) into the layouts. Our portraits will be taken this week. As you work on background layouts, keep the uniform shirt color in mind. **Don't forget - you can work on your page layouts from your home computer.**

8th grade editor/staff: Refine the section and "Favorites" list handout.

3rd per/6th Gr Beginning: Now that you see value, we will be working on a ceramics project and composition. As your clay piece is drying, you will work on understanding balance and other design principles.

4th per/7th Gr Intermediate: As we wait for the texture trays to dry, we'll make bowls for the annual Empty Bowl Dinner. The focus of these bowls will be symmetrical patterning on a round object.

6th per/8th Gr Advanced: The lobby window design is a beautiful symbolic graphic display. Outstanding job!!! Next, we move to painting with acrylic using your knowledge of color theory to create the illusion of overlap without using lines! This is a tedious but fun project that always looks fabulous when done correctly.

Next Sketchbook Exercise: Due 9/21 Create a cartoon family using each letter in your first name as the body for the family members. See me for additional explanation.

8th Per/Digital Studio: The last of the Photoshop projects for now - creating your own Autobiographical Portfolio. Keep in mind you need at least the following:
  • Action
  • Macro
  • Abstract
  • Symbolic
  • Portrait

The grading rubric for this project was handed out in class on 9/8/09 and is hanging on the White Board in the art room. Make your photos the best they can be - several of the ones that were entered in contests in prior years WON! I have not yet assigned a due date for this project. Take time to do a good job on it.
