10/12 - 10/21

1st per/Yearbook: Details to be working on as we await the portraits:
  • Page backgrounds all the same for pages grouped together.
  • Spell out numbers as titles.
  • TAG students in the photos.
  • Make sure you are consistent with the page number design we chose.
GROUP WORK: Focus on the assignments we made in class on Tuesday morning.

3rd per/6th Gr Beginning: Based on your memories from the recent trip, chose one image to create in watercolor. You will create a draft in pencil, a draft in watercolor, and a final piece on watercolor paper using watercolor paints and watercolor pencils. Mrs. Stein will be demonstrating techniques in class.

Once you have completed your final draft, you may begin recreating your parasha plaque in clay.

4th per/7th Gr Intermediate: We will spend some time orally critiquing the shoe project. Seeing what other people notice will help you make your own work better. It takes practice to learn how to make suggestions without hurting an artist's feelings.

Once you have all three art history information sheets completed, recreate your texture tray in clay. While it is drying, go back and write your opinion pieces for the art history project.

That means the next several days will be spent: researching, writing, hangbuilding ceramics, and writing some more. The information sheets are on the round table in the front of the room.

6th per/8th Gr Advanced: After a bit of revision, the Calder projects are nearly complete. The second mobile you create will be made of clay. Think of a theme, as all of the parts need to relate to one another.

Next Sketchbook Exercise: If your assignment from 10/12 was approved as is, you have a free week - no sketchbook. If you are required to re-draw your portrait, it is due on 10/20.

8th Per/Digital Studio: Finally - moving on to drawing with Illustrator. Remember to use those anchor points to your advantage! Next project is to create a personal logo. Here are the rules:
  • You may not copy an existing logo, or use any part of a recognizable logo.
  • Something in your design must be 3-D (this can be text, but doesn't have to be.)
  • You must be CREATIVE! (Putting your name on a ball will get you a failing grade.)
  • You must draw the image in Illustrator. You can't import an image from another source.
  • Have fun with this!

There is not a due date yet - it will take a while for everyone to get comfortable with what they can do in Illustrator.
