10/26 - 10/30

1st per/Yearbook:
Details to be working on :
Page backgrounds all the same for pages grouped together(in the same section).
Check your fonts.
TAG students in the photos.

3rd per/6th Gr Beginning:
We are learning about the principles of composition.
  • Balance
  • Division of Space
  • Leading the eye (leading eye line)
  • Focal point placement

You will be practicing setting up compositions and diagramming compositions all week. The test for this unit will be on THURSDAY 10/29.

4th per/7th Gr Intermediate:
As we await the clay pieces to be bisque fired, you are working on the art history project. Remember to use the pink handout packet as reference. Use the green sheet for note-taking.
Use the links to the right of this post for creating your bibliography in MLA style.
Type your opinions - one artist per page. As you complete the packet, begin the assigned reading of The Apprentice.
The final piece of the Art History unit will involve color field paintings - a genre invented by the abstractionists beginning in the 1950's.

6th per/8th Gr Advanced: As we wait for the clay mobile pieces to dry and be bisque fired, we are working on learning how to edit a painting. Just like editing your writing, you can make your paintings better by learning what to keep in and what to toss out (cover up.)

SKETCHBOOK: Due Friday, 10/30. What is inside the Circus Tent? Draw it!

8th Per/Digital Studio: This amazing class picked up Illustrator really quickly! This allows us to do more great projects. The current unit includes three separate items:
  • A comic strip using at least one character that you drew using Illustrator
  • A comic strip using your own image from Photobooth in Comic Life
  • An early reader book using the character you created in Illustrator.

The book should be targeted for first or second grade. It can be a counting book, an alphabet book, an animal or other 'themed' book, as long as it is simple enough for an beginning reader to use independently.
