11/2 - 11/6

1st per/Yearbook:

  • TAG students in the photos!
  • Verify that all fonts within a section are the same.
  • Place the new images from Evan and Dr. Hertz on your pages.

We will take care of the 8th grade questionnaire problem later in the week.

3rd per/6th Gr Beginning: Learning to draw realistically: separating objects into their planes

REMEMBER: Every time there is a change in plane, there is a change in the direction of the mark!! All marks WITHIN a plane must go in the same direction.

4th per/7th Gr Intermediate:

  1. Prepare for your oral presentation. These will begin on Wednesday and continue through next week.
  2. Sign on to XTimeline (use the link to the right.) and enter your artists.
  3. When you have free time in the classroom, read The Apprentice.

The next art project associated with the art history unit is a self-portrait painting in the Fauve style. Use your color theory exercise worksheet to help you with decision making on your portrait.

6th per/8th Gr Advanced: Complete the first Op Art piece. (create a template)

Op Art Piece #2: Topographical image beginning in the middle of the page instead of the end.

You will also be doing a painting that will require you to edit. We'll talk more about it later in the week.

SKETCHBOOK EXERCISE: Due Friday 11/6 Draw your hand THREE TIMES using blind contour. You may place your hand in any position. FILL THE PAGE with the drawing. I want to see three separate drawings. Remember that blind contour means:

  • you cannot look at the page while you draw
  • you should not lift your pencil or pen off the page
  • You must move your eye at the same rate as your pencil. It should take you a minimum of 20 minutes to do a GOOD blind contour drawing. If you are done sooner, then you haven't really focused on the detailed edges and wrinkles of your hand.

Don't try to do all three drawings at once. Spread them out over several days.

8th Per/Digital Studio: This amazing class picked up Illustrator really quickly! This allows us to do more great projects. The current unit includes three separate items:
1. A comic strip using at least one character that you drew using Illustrator
2. A comic strip using your own image from Photobooth in Comic Life
3. An early reader book using the character you created in Illustrator.
The book should be targeted for first or second grade. It can be a counting book, an alphabet book, an animal or other 'themed' book, as long as it is simple enough for an beginning reader to use independently.
