Thank you, parents for coming in and letting me show you the amazing artwork your children are creating. Everything will come home at the end of the year, after the exhibition.
6th Grade/Beginning (1st P): The study of value continues with a charcoal drawing from the still life. Students are learning terms like high-key, graphite, proportion and more! As students rotate through using the computer, they are writing essays based on research completed to gather information on an art history genre. Once the essays are printed, students will print visuals to go along with the essays, them will create a virtual timeline with their efforts.
7th Grade/Intermediate (3rd P): The color theory unit culminates with a study of probability based on the work of Ellsworth Kelly. Following these projects will be a review of composition, and a new technique to lead the eye called "passages."
8th Grade/Advanced (5th P): The study of Alexander Calder continues. After creating a paper sculpture, students will build a stabile and mobile. These are coming along nicely, and take a great deal of planning and visual imagination skills, as well as basic engineering.
Sketchbook: Fill out the table of artists. Due Nov. 3 Here is the link to the document. (Say thank you to Emma for this.) Artist Table
Digital Sudio (6th P): Moving on to Adobe Illustrator, students are learning how to draw using a computer! Ultimately, each student will have the ability to use both Photoshop and Illustrator within a project well enough to be a beginning graphic design artist.
Yearbook: As we all patiently await the portrait photos to arrive, tweaking and proofing are going on. The pages are beginning to shape up into a cohesive and well-designed book!
