1st Period/6th Grade Beginning: While we wait for the recently completed ceramic pieces to dry and be fired, the students have begun a unit on art history, a) studying their textbook, b) navigating art history websites and c) learning about protocol and genre identification. Continuing with design principles, students are also completing a rotation learning about value using differing media.
3rd Period/7th Grade Intermediate: Completing a pastel piece using light and shadow, we turn to color theory. Following a quick recap of the terms learned in beginning art, students expand their knowledge by painting a basic color wheel, then using it to create images with triads and tetrads/quads.Once these exercises are complete, students will work on two color theory projects, both grid-based. COLOR THEORY TEST on OCTOBER 14.
5th Period/8th Grade Advanced: After learning to see the movement in fabric, students are painting folds using acrylic paint. A challenging and frustrating lesson, folds are a necessity in drawing or painting. Once folds paintings are complete, students begin designing a creative utilitarian box that will require making a lid using calipers.
SKETCHBOOK: Draw a pair of sunglasses created using UNIQUE materials. Due 10/11.
6th Period Digital Studio: Students are working diligently on creating a Photographic Autobiography. Each portfolio must contain a unique cover, at least eight pages of images that relate to the students' personality, and optional verbage. This project requires patience, planning, Photoshop skills, organization and visual decision making. No due date yet.
